Senior Purchasing Agent
A leading employee-owned engineering and construction organization is seeking a Senior Purchasing Agent to support a rapidly growing business unit. This individual will be responsible for sourcing materials, equipment, services, and subcontracted work in support of large-scale commercial and industrial construction projects.
Central Ohio | On-SiteKey Responsibilities
- Issue RFQs, invitations to bid, and requests for proposals to vendors and suppliers
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms
- Review vendor quotes, proposals, and bids
- Prepare and manage purchase orders and procurement documentation
- Support project teams with procurement activities for materials, equipment, and services
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
- Research market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Ensure timely procurement to support active construction projects
- Provide guidance and support to junior purchasing team members
- 5+ years of purchasing experience, including at least 3 years within the construction industry
- Experience supporting commercial, industrial, MEP, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or general construction projects
- Strong construction procurement knowledge
- Experience with RFQs, RFPs, bids, vendor quotes, and supplier negotiations
- Strong understanding of purchasing systems and ERP platforms
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment
