Position Summary

The Director of Operations position owns the responsibility for overseeing the day to day operations serving multi-disciplined customer base, multi-shift and multi-facility operation(s). This position includes management of P & L, customer relations, staff development, and operational oversight.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Creates and leads best practices, technology enhancements, cost effective operational solutions, start-up, transfers, continuous improvement and account projects.
  • Ensures compliance with all US regulations in all facets of the operation(s).
  • Creates, coordinates, monitors and reports on business plan objectives vs. actual results and reports to Senior Management and/or clients as required.
  • Develops and retains leaders, attracts high potential talent and holds leaders accountable for driving culture. Superior team building and consistently models all values.
  • Creates, coordinates and reports on business metrics (KPI’s) applicable to the operation and fulfill customer and internal requirements. Includes authoring and publishing monthly operations statement(s) to our customer(s) point of contact, summarizing ODW’s performance in regards to SCOPE and customer requirements.
  • Create AOP and owns P&L performance for operation(s).
  • Provides Senior Management with data and recommendations to make effective decisions regarding the optimum utilization of people, materials, equipment, facilities, and resources.
  • Delights and responds to customer inquiries and serves as the continuous and professional point of contact for customer relations. Heavily involved in business development and contracts.
  • Serves as point in RFP responses, including solution concepts and designs.
  • Teaches warehouse management systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • 15 plus years of management experience required.
  • Previous experience as a Director of Operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, operations or equivalent education/work experience required
  • Previous experience with staff development, facility layout, multi-shift operations, project management and inventory management preferred
  • Experience working for a current Third
    - Party logistics provider.
  • Direct work experience in LTL, truckload, loading building and freight optimization.
  • Expert knowledge of warehouse management systems preferred
  • Prior P&L exposure and proven ability to manage it preferred
  • AIB, FDA/ODA/DEA experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools preferred

  • Spend 50 – 75% of time on warehouse floor in fast-paced environment
