Responsibilities- Oversee the successful implementation of the Gilbane Cares safety culture across the business.
- Develop and ensure distribution and understanding of project‑specific safety plans for all new projects based on Safety Alignment Assessment.
- Perform at least 6 Safety Net inspections per month with at least 100 observations each.
- Utilize Safety Net to audit and monitor project team implementation of the Safety Plan.
- Analyze Safety Net trending reports & share them with project teams.
- Coach & mentor project teams in effective hazard identification and correction using Safety Net.
- Ensure open Safety Net items are closed in a timely manner.
- Assist teams with developing corrective action plans.
- Identify & provide relevant training within the Business Unit(s).
- Ensure that all incidents are investigated, documented, and closed per Gilbane company policy.
- Analyze leading and lagging indicators, provide direction to Business Unit leadership, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide development, support, and mentorship for Safety Managers under oversight.
- Support business development in responding to client safety pre‑qualifications, Safety Presentations, etc.
- Attend Peer Group meetings as directed by the Corporate Safety Director.
- Develop professional safety relationships internally and externally, and participate in industry peer meetings and/or professional organizations.
- Assist Safety Director with initiatives and requests for information.
- Assist with Gilbane internal Safety awards in Division.
- May assist with tasks typically assigned to more junior positions.
- Responsible for the career development and coaching of team members.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment to motivate and engage team members.
- Interpret and translate the organizational strategy and ensure team understanding of their role in accomplishing strategic goals.
- Collaborate closely with business development to ensure seamless integration with sales strategies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering preferred.
- 5–7 years of construction safety management experience.
- Hyperscale Data Center experience is required.
- Associate or Certified Safety Professional or CHST certification is required.
- Certified and authorized instructor by GU and OSHA to teach safety courses to employees and contractors.
