OverviewThe Office of Career Management (OCM) provides comprehensive job search coaching programs and services to over 9,000 undergraduate and over 1,200 graduate students seeking internships and postgraduate positions within the Fisher College of Business (FCOB). The Executive Director oversees all career development, employer engagement, and job placement functions, driving student career readiness, improving employment outcomes, and aligning academic programs with workforce needs.
Responsibilities- Formulate and implement data‑driven annual and multi‑year strategies for program and service offerings, human capital needs, and resource allocations to ensure excellence in student employment outcomes and employer engagement.
- Collaborate closely with the Graduate Programs Office (GPO) and Undergraduate Programs Office (UPO) to build relationships with current, prospective and former students and to support admission goals, curriculum enhancement, orientation programs, rankings, and alumni engagement.
- Ensure the office achieves the strategic priorities set by the Dean and/or university.
- Manage the unit budget in collaboration with the executive director for finance and administration, including revenue generation through career events and corporate sponsor ships, and oversee management of college and university allocated funds supporting OCM.
- Collaborate with multiple college leaders to support stakeholder engagement across executive education, centers of excellence, academic departments, advancement teams, marketing and communications, ACCESS, Office of Global Business, senior leadership teams, advisory councils, committees, and other units.
- Oversee robust data collection processes and a data insights team to provide semi‑annual impact reports and annual reports highlighting student employment outcomes and innovative programs and services.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications to publish career management content on Fisher’s primary channels and develop innovative ways of sharing successes with internal and external stakeholders.
- Actively participate in regional, national, and international professional/industry associations and seek leadership roles when possible.
- Participate in college and university initiatives and committees as requested and support similar opportunities for the OCM team.
- Master's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10 years of progressive leadership experience in career services, workforce development, or a related field, including supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated success in improving job placement outcomes and building employer partnerships.
- Strong knowledge of labor market trends, workforce development strategies, and career readiness best practices.
- Proven ability to analyze data, track outcomes, and drive continuous improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively and strategically across functions, levels, and departments.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and problem‑solving ability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with varied internal and external constituents.
- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and uphold confidentiality.
- Proven experience with strategic data collection principles and data‑driven decision‑making and predictive outcomes.
- 15–20 years of progressive leadership experience in career management within higher education, preferably with significant experience in a business school environment.
