What You'll Do: ODH is seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to serve as the Bureau Chief. This critical leadership role oversees managers and staff responsible for statewide and local emergency preparedness, planning, and response activities. As a key member of the agency's leadership team, The Bureau Chief will collaborate with fellow bureau chiefs and executive leadership to advance the agency's mission of promoting and protecting the health and well-being of all Ohioans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to managers and staff within BHP.
- Lead operational planning and coordination for statewide and local emergency events.
- Cultivate an environment of engagement, positivity, and accountability across the bureau.
- Collaborate with agency leadership to ensure alignment with organization goals, statutory requirements, and public health best practices.
- Serve as a visible, effective leader during critical incidents, ensuring clarity of communication, operational excellence, and strong team performance.
- Represent the bureau and agency in internal and external forums to support preparedness initiatives.
Competencies:
Demonstrated leadership ability in guiding teams through complex or high-pressure situations. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and foster a positive work culture. Proven experience collaborating across divisions and with executive leadership. Clear, concise communication, decision-making, and organizational skills.
