Position: Supervisory Financial Specialist (MSP) - Temporary NTE 1 Year, MBE up to 5 Years, MBMP

General Manager Duties

As a Front Line Manager you will:

  • Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities and prepares schedules for completion of work.
  • Assign work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluate work performance of subordinates and makes recommendations for outstanding performance recognition and/or disciplinary action.
  • Give advice, counsel or instruction to employees on work and administrative matters.
  • Interview candidates for positions within the organization/unit and recommend appointment, promotion or reassignment to such positions.
  • Hear and resolve complaints from employees, refer group grievances and/or more serious unresolved complaints as appropriate.
  • Effect minor disciplinary measures, such as warnings and reprimands, recommend other actions in more serious cases.
  • Identify developmental and training needs of employees, providing or arranging for needed development and training.
  • Initiate ways to improve production, work processes and/or to increase the quality of the work directed.
  • The following are the job specific duties of this position. You will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.

    • The incumbent is responsible for supervising employees responsible for all functions of Criminal Investigation's (CI's) budget through all phases of the budgetary process, e.g., budget formulation and justification, presentation and enactment, and execution. This entails coordinating, developing, and executing CI-wide financial plans, including CI's budget, Operating Plan, and Strategic Plan.
    • Directs budgetary programs, which require national coordination, and determines allocation of discretionary funds. In addition, the incumbent monitors, analyzes, and evaluates resource utilization for the financial plan and provides technical guidance and assistance relative to budgetary matters. Works closely with staff, customers, and leadership to develop current and future fiscal year financial plans for the FTE and dollar requirements included in CI's major budget submissions.
    • Maintains and monitors plans for major studies, tests and analyses having CI-wide budgetary impact. Analyzes internal and external trends to define their potential impact on customers and major programs. Provides analytical feedback to program areas for over- or underperforming financial areas, with corrective actions. Leads staff in providing Status of Funds reports to customers, holding routine touch-point meetings to provide advisory services on spending and areas of concern.

      Provides guidance and advice on changes in course of action based upon noted spending patterns.
