Actalent is seeking a lab technician to support an industrial paint manufacturing company in Columbus. This role involves coordinating the collection of random samples from production batches and conducting a wide variety of complex testing processes to measure the physical characteristics of products. The position is a long term opportunity and on 3rd shift, from 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM, Monday-Friday (Sunday night - Friday morning).

Responsibilities

* Follow batch ticket recipes with a high degree of accuracy for weights and measurements.

* Perform complex testing processes on production batches to measure the product's physical or chemical characteristics, including viscosity, weight per unit of measure, flow, gloss, and color characteristics compared with standards.

* Conduct tests on materials from suppliers and production batches.

* Perform standard testing procedures, including preparation of materials, with attention to detail and high quality.

* Follow daily work plans for Lab Work Requests or project plans.

* Accurately document work in lab notebooks, either physical or electronic.

* Maintain and perform calibrations on machines.

Qualifications

* Not color blind

* Prior quality/wet lab experience or entry level graduate with AS or BS in Science

* High School Diploma or equivalent required

* Previous manufacturing environment preferred

* Previous customer service experience preferred

* PLUS: experience working with paint, pigments, coatings

SHIFT:

3rd shift M-F 10pm-6:30am (shift starts up Sunday evening at 10pm and ends on Friday at 6:30am).

Training will be on 1st - 6:00am-2:30pm (last ~3 weeks)

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.25 - $25.25/hr.
