Lead Operator Machining - Third Shift
Walor North America is looking for a Lead Operator to join its Machining team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest productivity across all production lines during shifts while also acting as a backup to run production as needed in addition to assisting the supervisor.
What you will do- Responsible for day to day technical management of multiple lines approximately 10 employees
- Ensure setup readiness and first part approval
- Instill good company/employee relations, including cooperation and teamwork
- Support operators with changing tooling offsets, replacing tool holders, part verification, macro program changes, monitor tool life, etc.
- Ensures shift data and records are accurate and up to date. Verifies information input into company software is accurate and complete
- Ensure compliance with scrap review process and verification of in process and final scrap are transferred to the respective review area
- Supporting staff with challenging tasks (e.g. machine changeovers, machine settings)
- Ensuring maximum productivity through quick troubleshooting, scrap mitigation and utilization of planned downtime effectively in consultation with supervisor
- Responsible for leading daily Shop Floor Meetings in their defined areas
- Ensuring quality of product through hourly checks and routine audits
- Will serve as trainers when new associates are onboarded into their areas
- Identification and elimination of wastes in processes by participation in engineering activities
- Authorized to initiate a write up in their defined areas and propose disciplinary action to the supervisor
- Train employees on technical aspects such as machine operation, changing inserts and basic troubleshooting
- Fill in for absent employees if necessary
- In the absence of the supervisor perform all necessary duties
- Adherence to federal, state and local laws and regulations, internal policies and other applicable rules including IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements
- Continuous improvement of work and activities
- Fulfilling thoroughly all tasks within the scope of defined qualifications and responsibilities
- Represent the company in a professional and respectful manner
- Maintaining confidentiality of proprietary information
- Adherence to 5S principles
- Operate CNC machines
- Operate forklift if necessary
- Maintain all machine fluid levels and perform daily PM
- Perform hourly inspections of all lines as per the SOP
- Escalation of quality deviations, machine condition and all production related matters to the supervisor
- Ability to stop production for quality concerns or issues
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in metal working
- Minimum of 3+ years CNC machine experience
- CNC programming knowledge preferred
- Automation experience preferred
- Basic computer skills

- Location-The Lead Operator role is based onsite at our Columbus facility
- Physical Demand-May be required to lift moderately heavy automotive components up to 15 pounds
- Schedule-Third Shift Sunday thru Thursday, 11:00 PM - 7:15 AM, some overtime or weekends may be necessary
