Job Description

As a Resident Engineer, you will deliver reactive and proactive activities according to Service Level Agreements to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty. You will provide direct post‑sales systems on‑site technical support for reactive and proactive customers, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction by ensuring clear business and technical solution alignment and meeting customer needs. You will contribute to the company’s Total Customer Experience, revenue growth, profitability, and account retention.

Location:

Onsite at the customer’s office in Columbus, OH.

Role Responsibilities
  • Hold network information gathering workshops to understand the customer’s existing design and technical requirements for new designs.
  • Understand the customer’s organizational structure and support processes to help maintain a sustainable network.
  • Test new designs, features, and functionality in a laboratory environment and develop plans to implement and verify correct operation in the live network.
  • Test patches and fixes to operating software and ensure correct implementation in pre‑production and live networks as per implementation plans.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and network problems, open and track JTAC cases, and resolve pre‑ and post‑production issues.
  • Raise equipment requests and Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) and track them through resolution.
  • Produce written summary reports of the status of design projects, equipment, and network problems for the customer.
  • Hold technology workshops to discuss problems, provide case status updates, and explain workarounds or solutions.
  • Train customer design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate HPE/Juniper Networks products.
  • Assist the customer in developing Network Operating and Equipment Operating Procedures.
  • Support the production environment of HPE/Juniper products within the customer infrastructure.
  • Support ongoing efforts to define best‑practice policies for HPE/Juniper product applications used by the customer.
  • Peer with other Resident Engineers to share lessons learned and minimize risks associated with major network upgrades or changes.
  • Develop secondary skills in other products in the HPE/Juniper product portfolio.
Required Background and Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of design, implementation, and operational experience in large‑scale IP networks.
  • JUNOS CLI experience.
  • Large‑scale experience with QFX, EX, switching, and routing.
  • Prior work experience at a large enterprise or data center with EVPN/VXLAN.
  • Experience with core routing (BGP, OSPF) protocols.
  • Mist Wireless assurance experience.
  • Experience with HPE/Juniper EZ‑LAG.
  • Background in automation with Ansible, YAML, and HPE/Juniper PyEZ.
  • Experience writing automation scripts in Python.
  • Experience with design and deployment of routing and switching products within the customer infrastructure.
  • Strong communication skills in crisis situations with all organizational levels (Engineering, Operations, CIO/CISO).
  • Ability to refine and translate complex requirements and execute best‑practice solutions.
  • Assistance with major network upgrades, maintenance windows, and network changes.
  • Strong customer interface and presentation skills.
  • Other tasks and duties as needed to support the customer and/or business.
  • Technical certifications (JNCIS‑MistAI, Wireless; JNCIP‑MistAI).
