Test Technician

The Test Technician is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, and repairing battery chargers, inverters, regulators at pretest and final test. Specific responsibilities include testing, troubleshooting, and repair of uninterruptible power systems equipment such as inverters, rectifiers, chargers, static switches, AC regulators, and associated equipment. The role also involves interfacing with customers for factory acceptance testing as required, recommending test procedure changes, and providing technical support to customers over the phone.

Additional tasks as deemed necessary may also be required.

Qualifications include electrical and mechanical aptitude and basic skills on soldering and assembling of electro/mechanical devices. Proficiency in the use of multi-meters and other basic instruments, as well as comfort with minor mechanical rework, is required. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly prints, schematics, and parts lists is necessary. Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel) and strong verbal and written communication skills, customer service skills, and troubleshooting skills are essential.

The ability to work alone and manage time with little supervision, strong AC/DC power electronics and applications skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proven troubleshooting skills, ability to multitask and manage complex projects, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are also required. Work with voltages as high as 1000

VAC and 400

VDC is expected.

Education and experience include a two-year degree in electronics or military equivalent experience. A technology background that includes at least five years of experience in power electronics and a versatile hands-on individual with good analytical skills is necessary.

Experience with power in the ranges of 480 to 600

VAC with currents over 1,000A is preferred.

This position is located in Columbus, Ohio.
