The Director of Digital Media serves as a key leader within the Ohio State Athletics Marketing & Fan Experience unit, providing strategic oversight for the department’s comprehensive digital presence across , official Athletics social media channels, and the Ohio State Buckeyes App. Reporting to the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing & Live Events, this role shapes the department’s digital vision and ensures consistent, engaging representation of the Ohio State brand across all platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning and execution of digital content strategies that support fan engagement, brand storytelling, and revenue-generation objectives.
  • Direct social media strategy, oversee website and app content, and guide the development of emerging digital platforms.
  • Ensure alignment between digital initiatives and broader marketing goals through collaboration with the Creative Content, Marketing & Email Strategy, and communications teams.
  • Direct all live-streamed press conferences and digital broadcasts across Athletics web, app, You Tube, and social media channels, ensuring high production standards and coordinated distribution.
  • Supervise the Assistant Director of Digital Media, Website, and analyze digital analytics, user behavior, and performance metrics to inform content planning and platform optimization.
  • Provide training and best-practice guidance to communications, marketing, and creative staff to maintain a consistent voice and brand identity.
  • Manage the department’s relationship with its website and app provider and serve as the Athletics liaison to the university’s social media department.
  • Oversee the Athletics Digital Media student intern program, offering mentorship and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Demonstrate innovation, strategic thinking, and a data-informed approach to continually enhance the department’s digital footprint.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Education:

    Bachelor s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, including leading a team in social media, digital media and copy writing; supervisory experience; excellent written and verbal communication; creativity; experience with design/desktop publishing and video editing; ability to manage a large flow of information and multiple projects; self-motivation; strong organizational skills; ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to stay ahead of technologies and current trends in web, social, video, and design.
  • A passion for college athletics and the sports industry; ability to analyze data to increase fan engagement and revenue streams.
