Assistant Director of Athletic Communications & Marketing

The successful candidate will work alongside the Director of Athletic Communications & Marketing to positively promote Capital University Athletics' 23 varsity teams and engage its supporters, fans, and student-athletes among other stakeholders. The candidate will serve as the primary media contact for multiple programs and aid with in-game operations for various sports. This role will also play a significant part in managing the Capital Athletics streaming and partnership with Flo Sports.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Director of Athletic Communications & Marketing in maintaining the brand for Capital Athletics through the creation of creative graphics, videos, social media posts, etc. This role will be responsible for taking the lead on all creative media production and management for Capital Athletics and the individual teams. Furthermore, this role will take on an enhanced responsibility for managing the department's student game-day and office staff.

This role will also serve as the Campus Advisor for the Pride of the Purple Student Section.

Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, game management, statistics entry, game recapping, news release and feature story writing, and the creation and management of website content (athletics.capital.edu). The candidate will create digital assets for Capital Athletics and individual sports teams, contribute to a strong digital presence through video, social media, and graphic design, and assist in the management of student office and game day staff.

Evening and weekend work are required. Hours will fluctuate based on event schedule.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in sport management, communications, public relations, or a related field. Previous work experience in a sports information or athletic communications department is desired. Proven experience in video streaming, video editing, AP Style writing, graphic design, and/or social media use is required for this role. Additional beneficial experience may include work with Adobe Creative Suite, Sidearm Sports, Genius Live Stats, Presto Stats and/or Stat Crew.

Applicant should have excellent communication skills.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary, payable over 12 months. This position is full-time with benefits and will require the candidate to work year-round.
