ABOUT THE COLUMBUS FURY

The Columbus Fury are a professional women's volleyball team competing in Major League Volleyball (MLV) - the premier professional women's volleyball league in North America. Women's sports is experiencing a genuine cultural and commercial inflection point, and the Fury are building one of the flagship franchises in that story. We are entering the 2027 season with new leadership, a clear vision, and the ambition to build something that Central Ohio hasn't seen before in professional women's sports.

THE ROLE

The Content & Communications Manager is the Fury's lead in-house storyteller and day-to-day voice - owning our social channels, content calendar, and video production while supporting communications, email, web, and campaign execution. Overall marketing and content strategy is developed in partnership with our agency partner; this role brings that strategy to life through a steady stream of high-quality social, web, email, and video content - identifying stories, creating content, and keeping the Fury relevant and engaging day in and day out.

This is a senior, hands-on content role with meaningful communications responsibility - not a posting queue and not a coordinator seat. You own the channels, run the content calendar, drive the editorial agenda, and are comfortable creating content yourself - from capturing a timely moment on a phone to helping produce a polished interview series. You work closely with our agency partner to translate strategy into execution, while bringing your own ideas, instincts, and creativity to the work.

If you're a true multi-tool content professional who can spot a story, develop the idea, create the content, and bring it to life across channels, this is the job. This role is based in our Columbus, Ohio office. Occasional remote flexibility is available, particularly during the off-season.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN: CONTENT CREATION & STORYTELLING
  • Create compelling photo and video content across Fury channels, with the ability to independently capture and edit high quality content when needed
  • Develop and produce recurring content franchises - including player features, behind-the-scenes storytelling,
  • interviews, match recaps and highlights - working with the Creative Designer, freelancers, and other production resources as appropriate.
  • Identify and develop stories proactively - recognizing compelling player, team, community, and behind-the-scenesmoments without waiting for an assignment.
  • Create and edit platform-native content - including Reels, Tik Toks, Shorts, photography, graphics, and other formats - tailored to how fans consume content on each channel.
  • Capture photo and video at practices, matches, and community events; direct match-day freelancers when extran coverage is needed
  • Coordinate on-camera talent, scripting, and interview prep for player and staff features
  • Maintain an organized, accessible library of content assets and finished work; publish and repurpose content across channels and formats to maximize its value
SOCIAL MEDIA & COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT
  • Own and grow all Columbus Fury social channels - Instagram, Tik Tok, X, Facebook, You Tube, and emerging platforms
  • Run the day-to-day content calendar in partnership with our agency partner, publishing consistently
  • Write copy that sounds like a person, not a press release, in the Fury's voice
  • Manage the community in real time - respond to comments and messages, and execute an agreed approach for handling negative fan communication
  • Use platform analytics and audience insights to continually improve content - identifying what drives reach,
  • engagement, follower growth, ticket interest, and fan connection, and reporting results to leadership and our agency partner
WEBSITE, EMAIL & CAMPAIGN EXECUTION
  • Keep the Fury website current — blog, schedule, roster, and promotional content
  • Build and maintain the Fury blog / owned-content hub - educational, explainer-style pieces (e.g., how roster
  • development works in MLV, how the league operates) that support the education layer and can be repurposed into social posts
  • Execute email marketing in partnership with ticketing and our agency partner - including season-ticket and…
