Outreach and Engagement Specialist
Department: Social Work | Collaborative Community Initiatives
The Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery (HECAOD) is hiring an Outreach and Engagement Specialist to serve as the strategic leader for its outreach, engagement, and advocacy efforts. An academic center housed in the College of Social Work (CSW) and a collaboration between CSW, the College of Pharmacy, and the Office of Student Life, HECAOD provides training, tools, and resources to campus professionals working to address collegiate substance misuse and gambling across the continuum.
Reporting to the Managing Director, this position is responsible for designing and executing a multi‑year strategic plan for membership engagement that hinges on the cultivation of collaborative relationships with campus professionals nationwide. This role requires a high degree of autonomy to develop data‑driven practices, engagement metrics, and value‑proposition models that drive membership acquisition and long‑term retention.
Beyond operational management, the Specialist will act as a lead advocate and relationship broker, cultivating strategic partnerships with potential funders and corporate sponsors to diversify the Center’s revenue streams and move its mission forward. This critical function involves navigating complex organizational structures, drafting external communication and promotions, and facilitating monthly meetings of the National Consortium of State Coalitions, where the Specialist serves as the vital link between statewide collegiate health and well‑being coalitions and the Center’s leadership.
The Specialist ensures continuous improvement by designing annual satisfaction assessments and impact reports, transforming stakeholder feedback into a strategic roadmap that ensures the Center remains the premier partner for collegiate recovery and prevention professionals.
