WHO WE ARE:
Since 1936, Central Community House (CCH) has been a source of support and place to gather for children, teens, families, and seniors who live, work, and socialize in the near east and south side neighborhoods of Columbus. As a full-service community center, neighbors of all ages come together to learn, play, share their gifts, and find assistance when needed.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:The Village Central Manager of Volunteer Services is responsible for enhancing, and overseeing a robust volunteer program for Village Central, a “membership-based” group that offers a diverse portfolio of free services and programs catering to the unique needs of individuals ages 60+. The goals of Village Central are to promote social connectedness, foster health and wellness, and encourage independence so that members can thrive in the home and neighborhood of their choice.
The volunteers in this program will partner with seniors to meet needs related to aging comfortably and safely in place, including maintaining and improving housing, meeting basic needs, increasing socialization, and improving health and wellness. This role involves recruiting, training, and managing volunteers, and ensuring a positive volunteer experience.
- Manage a volunteer program that supports the success of all Village Central program goals and assists in meeting the needs of seniors.
- Meet goals and outcomes outlined in the current grant contract/program plan.
- Develop and implement tools and strategies to recruit and maintain Village Central volunteers.
- Implement Village Central volunteer training, management, and communication procedures.
- Implement an orientation program for both volunteers and senior participants to gain an understanding of the program, define goals for the senior and volunteer to meet together and build rapport in developing their relationship.
- Coordinate volunteer schedules and assign tasks according to individual skills and interests.
- Foster a welcoming environment for volunteers, providing support and recognition for their contributions.
- Support marketing and outreach efforts by submitting clear and timely marketing requests, promoting volunteer opportunities across multiple channels, and actively pursuing innovative outreach strategies to increase program visibility and recruit volunteers.
- Build partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community leaders to enhance volunteer opportunities.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of the Village Central volunteer website to support communication, recruitment, and program visibility.
- Provide volunteer-supported outreach and programming at area senior living facilities to strengthen community connections, expand service reach, and fulfill grant outcomes.
- Evaluate the efficacy of volunteer/senior interactions and track data.
- Maintain excellent records by ensuring the timely and accurate collection and entry of all program data (e.g. client demographics, attendance tracking, pre/post surveys, etc.).
- Collect volunteer and participant surveys to meet grant and reporting requirements, and create strategies and incentives to support timely survey completion.
- Complete program reports for funders and fulfill other data/compliance requests, in cooperation with the Grants and Program Compliance Manager.
- Foster a supportive and welcoming environment for community members from diverse backgrounds by demonstrating empathy, patience, and strong communication skills
- Engage in ongoing learning about the unique needs of the aging population and build a network of local resources/services by attending trainings, conducting research, and meeting with other providers.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration, trust and equity by attending and fully participating in meetings held by CCH.
- Support and attend community events hosted by CCH, participate in professional development and educational activities, and collaborate with staff across all departments to advance the mission of CCH.
