JOB DESCRIPTION

ABOUT OHIO

State Parties are responsible for building infrastructure necessary for successful candidate campaigns up and down the ballot. Over the last few years, Ohio Democrats built a year-round organizing model driven by local community activists and volunteers. Ohio Dems are testing new technology and programs to build a modern, data-driven and nimble force to elect Democrats statewide now and in the future.

In 2026, every statewide office will be on the ballot – including the governor’s race and a special election to elect a U.S. Senator in the seat currently occupied by appointed Senator Jon Husted. With 3 DCCC Frontline Races to protect and 3 additional seats targeted by the DCCC, the path to a Democratic majority in the U.S. House and Senate will once again run through Ohio in 2026.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Ohio Democratic Party is hiring Interns to support and participate in these efforts. Opportunities are available in various departments (like finance, communications, political, and others) across the organization and duties will vary from department to department. Each intern will work up to 10-20 hours per week. Sample responsibilities might include:

  • Assisting the fundraising team in day-to-day administrative and operational activities, including donor prospecting, call time preparation, database maintenance, and relationship management with Ohio Democratic Party donors.
  • Conducting political and fundraising research
  • Tracking events, endorsement and news for candidates
  • Assisting with the Ohio Democratic Party Annual Dinner and other fundraising events
  • Assisting in gathering popular clips, creating content and formatting copy for the weekly donor/stakeholder newsletter
  • Assisting in maintaining calendar of political events around the state

CHARACTERISTICS

The ideal candidates will possess the following attributes:

  • Willingness to learn and engage
  • Self-starter who thinks on their feet
  • Works well under pressure and with deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A collaborative style

The salary will be $15.00 per hour. Internships are available for various lengths of time, including summer-only internships, as well as internships that end on November 15, 2026.

Ohio Democrats recognize our success requires a diverse mix of talented people. We are focused on building a staff that is diverse in race, gender and gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin and all the other fascinating characteristics that make us different. Candidates of color, women, LGBTQI, and more are encouraged to apply.
