LiFEsports, at the College of Social Work, is nationally recognized as a premier model for sport-based positive youth development (PYD) programming and has grown to address the ever-changing needs of our community’s youth. Our work impacts the lives our community members as we strive to address the broader social conditions young people face, especially those exposed to various social vulnerabilities. Our focus on outreach and community programs has continued to impact the sport-based PYD field by developing tomorrow’s leaders and workforce through teaching, training, and developing individuals in the field of PYD.

Our ongoing research, evaluations and publications demonstrate the impact and differences community-based sports can make in the lives of vulnerable youth. Findings are used to inform evidence-based practices in sport-based PYD across the world. The Community Outreach Representative will work in LiFEsports at the College of Social Work, and, under the direction of the LiFEsports Assistant Director of Outreach. This position will coordinate, implement, and develop community outreach, engagement, and educational programs in Central Ohio and surrounding communities.

Specifically, this position will support the LiFEsports summer camps, clinics, and Youth Leadership Academy. The Community Outreach Representative collaborates with LiFEsports leadership to support, manage, and curate community and University partnerships. In support of LiFEsports programming, the Community Outreach Representative is responsible for implementing staff recruitment strategies and participating in the interview and selection process of camp staff. Additionally, this position will serve as a volunteer coordinator.

The Community Outreach Representative will recruit and direct all volunteers (including students volunteers and interns) involved in the implementation of LiFEsports outreach programming and develop a system of volunteer recruitment, retention, and acknowledgement. This role, with support from the Assistant Director of Outreach plans, implements, and oversees operations of LiFEsports community-based summer camps, sports clinics (currently 12), and the Youth Leadership Academy.

Specific activities include the coordination of the day-to-day program operations including maintaining accurate youth attendance records, implementing program curricula, and partnering with community partners to implement sport-based social skills programming for underserved youth. This role will coordinate training for all community partners related to camp and clinic facilitation, build a network of support or clinics, and develop relationships with key staff members at community organizations.

Please note that this position will require night and weekend hours. Additionally, the Community Outreach Representative promotes the mission of LiFEsports within the University and among community stakeholders to further develop relationships and broaden LiFEsorts’ reach.

Salary range is $47,700.00-$62,300.00 annually. The actual salary will fall within this range based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and the unit’s available budget. This position is contingent upon funding and will end on or before June 30, 2027.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required.
