Overview
Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner position in the Department of Emergency Medicine to provide direct health care to patients in the emergency departments of the medical center with an emphasis on urgent care level of acuity; works in collaboration with Emergency Medicine physicians in providing comprehensive emergency care to patients presenting to the emergency departments of OSUMC or East; works under the on-site supervision of a practicing licensed physician;
performs services independently that are authorized and directed by supervising physician; performs health assessments, histories and physical examinations; orders diagnostic testing and interprets results; reviews and assesses patient medications; prescribes and evaluates drugs and other treatments; interprets health data variations and risk factors; performs approved indicated procedures. 50% or more of hours worked will occur during evening or weekend hours.
- Provide direct medical care delivery in the emergency department with an emphasis on urgent care acuity; collaborate with Emergency Medicine physicians; work under on-site physician supervision and independently perform services authorized by the supervising physician.
- Perform health assessments, histories and physical examinations; order diagnostic testing and interpret results; review and assess patient medications; prescribe and evaluate drugs and other treatments; interpret health data variations and risk factors; perform approved indicated procedures.
- Identify that 50% or more of hours worked will occur during evening or weekend hours.
- Participate in managing overall patient care as part of a care delivery team.
- Participate in review and revision of policies, procedures, and standards of care and ensure maintenance; interpret policies and procedures to patients, visitors, and staff; ensure patient confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Master's of Science Degree or DNP in Nursing or Master's in Physician Assistant Science.
- APRN License with Certification as an NP or PA-C.
- 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
