Position Details:

• Mount Carmel East
• Full-time/Day shift

The Surgery Department at Mount Carmel East has 13 operating rooms with 3 of those rooms dedicated to trauma. Surgical specialties include Level II Trauma care, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, Neurosurgery (Cranial and Spinal), General Surgery, ENT, GYN, Dental, Plastics, Colorectal, and Robotic Surgery. They average 25 cases per day and care for the adult patient population. The department is staffed 24-7-365.

The Surgical Technician, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will provide patient care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Under the RN’s direction, they set up and maintain the surgical field and assist the surgeon during operative procedures.

• Assist in meeting goals and initiatives for the surgery department; such as, but not limited to room turnover and first‑case on‑time starts.
• Assist in training/orientation of associates as directed by the Clinical Educator.
• Maintain a safe environment for the patient.
• Maintain sterile techniques.

• Education:
  
  Graduate of a surgical technology program, holds a certificate of surgical technology through the NBSTSA, NCCT or graduate of a school of practical nursing.
• Licensure / Certification:
  If a graduate of a school of practical nursing, current license in good standing to practice as a practical nurse in the State of Ohio.
• BLS healthcare provider training required.
