Note:
Oncology experience preferred but not required Nurses with ICU and PCU backgrounds also do well here
Job Overview : Join a high-acuity Oncology PCU at James Cancer Hospital and Research. This unit treats adult, adolescent, and occasional pediatric oncology patients, focusing on progressive care. Nurses will self-schedule and may float to equivalent or lower acuity units. Orientation is a two-week program combining classroom and on-unit preceptor training.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care to PCU and Med-Surg Oncology patients.
Monitor and manage high-acuity patients with emphasis on infection prevention and fall protocols.
Administer medications, including PCA and cardiac drips.
Manage IV therapy, PICC lines, central and peripheral lines, and blood products.
Utilize telemetry systems to monitor and respond to dysrhythmias.
Support rapid response and code teams.
Provide wound care, tracheostomy care, and respiratory interventions (BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, ABG interpretation).
Administer and monitor chemotherapy (preferred).
Required Skills & Qualifications
RN license in Ohio (compact or state license)
Minimum 2 years clinical experience; 1 year current specialty experience within last 3 years
Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
High-acuity PCU experience
Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management
IV therapy, central line/PICC management, blood product administration
Feeding tube care, tracheostomy management
