- Work in a corrections health unit serving ODRC inmates and float to various Oncology Medical‑Surgical (MS) units as needed
- Patient population includes those with active oncology diagnoses, oncology workup admissions, and non‑oncology medical‑surgical needs
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:3 for PCU and 1:4‑5 for MS unit
- Unit is locked and access is controlled by Corrections Officers with a CO to inmate ratio of 1:2
- Shifts may include days, nights, or rotating days and nights based on departmental needs; assignments may change every 4 weeks
- Uses Pyxis for medication management and EPIC for documentation
- Primary responsibilities include telemetry monitoring, cardiac dysrhythmia management, IV and central line care, blood administration, hemodialysis support, and respiratory interventions
- Must be able to ensure staff safety in a secure corrections environment
- Support services available include interpretation, pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, rapid response, respiratory, social services, and transportation
- Oncology experience is preferred but not required
- All time‑off requests must be submitted for contract inclusion
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Urgent OH fingerprinting process required upon contract signing
- Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required
- Experience with EPIC charting system is required
- Medical‑Surgical/Telemetry skills required
- Minimum education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager or formal leadership role
- Former employees eligible if away from the facility for at least 6 months; current employees of Ohio State University hospitals ineligible as travelers
