Registered Nurse - Corrections Health Unit

Schedule

- Shift: Days, Nights, or rotating 12D/N (assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period)

Requirements
- License:
Valid compact or state RN license in hand at time of submission

- Certifications:

BLS required

- Experience:

Minimum 2 years nursing experience; at least 1 year of current specialty experience required for clinical pass
- EMR: EPIC charting experience required
- Unit-specific skills:
Oncology experience preferred, but not required; IV therapy, chemotherapy administration and monitoring, med-surg/telemetry care, and unit-based telemetry monitoring

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients within a locked corrections unit
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established protocols
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, responding effectively to changes in status
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure optimal patient care
- Document all nursing interventions and patient responses accurately in the EMR system

Compliance / Notes
- Orientation: 72 hours
- Flu vaccine required; medical exemptions only
- Ohio fingerprinting is an urgent requirement after booking; strict deadline must be met
- Candidates outside Ohio may be required to travel to Ohio for fingerprinting or complete a mailed fingerprint packet urgently
