Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with Oncology and Chemotherapy certification for an inpatient acute leukemia and hematology unit. This role involves caring for adults and geriatric patients with newly diagnosed acute leukemia and other complex hematologic conditions. The position requires strong oncology, telemetry, and infusion experience in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

• Contract Length: 13–16 weeks
• Start Date: March 2026
• Shifts Available:
  • Day Shift: 3x12 (07:00 – 19:30)
  • Night Shift: 3x12 (19:00 – 07:30)
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling (no block schedules)
• Floating: Required to other Med-Surg Oncology units
• Weekend Coverage: Variable based on unit needs
• Orientation:
  • Week 1:
    Monday–Friday days
  • Week 2: 36 hours on-unit with preceptor

• Age Group: Adults and Geriatrics
• Unit Focus: Acute Leukemia & Hematology
• Average Census: ~22 patients
• Target Ratios: 1:4 (may be up to 1:5)

• Administration and monitoring of chemotherapy
• Care for patients with acute leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma
• Management of blood products
  , IV antibiotics, and electrolyte replacements
• Central line and port access, care, and blood draws
• PICC line management
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Recognition and response to oncologic emergencies, including:
  • Sepsis
  • Tumor lysis syndrome
• Strict adherence to infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
• Accurate documentation using EPIC

• Minimum 2 years RN experience
• At least 1 year hematology/oncology experience
• MS/Telemetry experience required
• Previous travel experience required (first-time travelers must be screened)

• Active RN License (Compact or state license in hand at submission)
• BLS
• ACLS
• ONS Chemotherapy Certification

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring
• IV therapy and phlebotomy
• Blood product administration
• Central line and peripheral IV management
• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Rapid response utilization
• Feeding tube care and management
• Body fluid handling post-chemotherapy

• Ability to float within oncology units
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Compliance with urgent credentialing and fingerprinting timelines
• Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references required (one from leadership)
