The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost‑effective care.
PositionSummary
The Surgery Center Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Surgery Center Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.
MinimumRequired Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing from a CCNE or ACEN accredited nursing program required.
- Current Ohio license or interim permit.
- Experience in relevant care setting preferred.
The Eye and Ear Institute at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center provides specialized outpatient surgical care in ophthalmology, ENT, plastics, and other same‑day procedures. RNs in the OR and Pre‑Op/PACU support the full perioperative experience, including pre‑surgical assessments, intraoperative circulating/scrub roles, and post‑anesthesia recovery.
RNs in this unit work in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment focused on safety, efficiency, and exceptional patient experience. This outpatient setting offers predictable scheduling with no nights, weekends, or holidays, along with opportunities for professional growth within a leading academic medical center.
