Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute’s (OSUCCC-James) mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in their own plan of care, and reducing the length of hospitalization, the staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care.
PositionSummary
The Staff Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and their family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Staff Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.
Unit DescriptionThe James Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is responsible for delivering evidence‑based, high‑quality post‑operative and post‑procedural nursing care to oncology and surgical patients transitioning from anesthesia. This role provides specialized assessment, monitoring, and interventions to ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal recovery. The PACU nurse collaborates closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and interdisciplinary care teams within a nationally recognized academic medical center.
Minimum Qualifications- 2- year College Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a major in Nursing from a CCNE or ACEN accredited nursing program is preferred.
- Current Ohio license or interim permit required.
- 2 years of experience in relevant care setting is preferred.
Maintains current Ohio RN license. Meets mandatory educational and health requirements. Demonstrates computer skills required to meet job functions.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
