15e James - Acute Leukemia And Hematology
Acute leukemia and hematology unit requires chemo certification. Experience must include MS oncology and at least one inpatient hematology oncology experience. A minimum of two years of overall nursing experience is required. First time travelers are not accepted. Care for adults and geriatrics, primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. High number of blood products, IV antibiotics, and electrolytes. Staffing ratios aim for 1:4, but can be 1:5.
Weekends are variable based on unit needs. No set/blocked scheduling. Self-schedule requests accepted to accommodate preferred schedules before finalizing. Orientation includes a first week of Mon-Fri dayshift and a second week of 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor. If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department's needs.
Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.
