Job Summary
Fusion Medical Staffing is hiring a Travel Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse for a 13‑week assignment in Columbus, Ohio. The role involves providing high‑quality obstetric care during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period. - Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques.
- Prepare equipment and aid physicians during labor, delivery, and patient examinations.
- Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn.
- Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
- Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care.
- Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols.
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes.
- Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results.
- Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures.
- Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care.
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing.
- At least one year of recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification.
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification.
- STABLE and ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC).
- Other certifications and licenses as required for this position.
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal English communication.
- Ability to understand written and verbal instructions and proficiency with PC skills.
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Interpersonal skill to work effectively with a variety of personnel and maintain professionalism.
- Technical/motor skill to perform fine manipulation, assist with procedures, and use department equipment.
- Mental resilience to cope with frequent public interaction, meet deadlines under pressure, and manage irregular activity schedules with concentration to detail.
- Sensory skill requiring visual acuity and effective communication.
