Position: Travel CVPICU Registered Nurse - $2,272 per week

TNAA Total Med RN is seeking a travel nurse RN CVPICU for a travel nursing job in Columbus, Ohio.

We're looking for Registered Nurses (RN) for an immediate travel opening in Columbus, OH for our Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU).

The right RN should have at least 1 year of experience in a PCICU setting. Read below for more details.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to pediatric patients with cardiovascular conditions, including those recovering from heart surgery, congenital heart defects, or severe arrhythmias.
  • Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, and other critical parameters. Assess patients for changes in condition and respond appropriately.
  • Administer medications (including IV drips, blood products, and sedatives) according to protocol, monitor for side effects, and adjust dosages as needed.
  • Assist with ventilator management, including non‑invasive and invasive respiratory support, and ensure proper airway management.
  • Assist with procedures such as intra‑aortic balloon pumps (IABP), external pacemakers, or ECMO as directed by the cardiology team.
  • Provide clear, compassionate communication with patients' families, updating them on their child's condition, care plan, and prognosis. Offer emotional support and education to family members.
  • Respond swiftly to cardiac and respiratory emergencies, including code situations and rapid interventions in acute cardiovascular distress.
  • Collaborate with pediatric cardiologists, surgeons, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals in a collaborative environment to provide comprehensive care.
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, changes in condition, and family interactions in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Educate families and caregivers on post‑operative care, recovery expectations, and signs of complications that may require attention.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as an RN in a PCICU or similar critical care setting.
  • BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications required; 2 years of certification or equivalent.
  • Additional certifications may be required before beginning the assignment.
  • Must be eligible for state licensure.
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods and to bend, stoop, and lift with proper body mechanics.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, communication abilities, and ability to provide compassionate care under pressure.
