Position Purpose

The Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s has 30 beds, with space to accommodate between 6-9 progressive care patients. The Registered Nurse could expect to see patients related to NSTEMI and post STEMI/cardiac arrest, post-cardiac cath and acute coronary syndrome, AAA repair, atrial fibrillation, amputations, and femoral-popliteal bypass. The RN will also care for patients in diabetic keto acidosis and acute respiratory failure on Bipap or Air Vo.

This unit offers a strong, welcoming teamwork environment, providing opportunities to learn and grow nursing knowledge with both intermediate and progressive care patient populations. The RN will work within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, providing care sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. The RN collaborates in a team spirit and is accountable for delivering patient care using the Nursing Process within the organization’s standards, policies, procedures and guidelines.

What

you will do
  • Provides nursing care, ensures an environment of patient safety, promotes evidence-based practice and quality initiatives, and exhibits professionalism in nursing practice within the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care for an assigned group of patients, utilizing evidence based practice, and collaborates with patient and family to develop and implement a plan of care that includes physical, spiritual and educational components.
  • Accurately communicates pertinent information to appropriate team members in a timely manner, keeping patient/family apprised and updated.
  • Documents accurately and completely pertinent assessments, interventions and outcomes for patients in accordance with documentation standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers as appropriate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduate from a school of nursing.
  • Licensure / Certification:
    Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • For Casual RNs 2 years of experience is required.
  • All new graduate nurses with less than one (1) year of clinical experience will participate in the Nurse Residency Program.
