Scope of PositionThe Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s mission is to improve health, patient quality, and safety through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The ComPAC team provides patient care and supportive services directed toward achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization. The ComPAC nurse plays a critical role in patient engagement and patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care.
PositionSummary
The ComPAC RN is responsible for phone triage of symptom-based calls from patients, and they assess the patient’s needs, clinical symptoms, follows symptom-based protocols and gives appropriate clinical advice per recognized guidelines. The ComPAC Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and their family, and for driving quality patient care provided by other members of the patient care team.
The ComPAC Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. The ComPAC nurse is responsible for retrieving outside medical records and communicating with the surgical and anesthesia providers to ensure optimization of surgical patients.
- Phone triage of symptom-based calls from patients
- Assess patient needs, clinical symptoms, follow symptom-based protocols, give appropriate clinical advice per guidelines
- Manage and provide care to the patient and their family; drive quality patient care by other team members
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care of patients aligned with the professional practice model
- Retrieve outside medical records and communicate with surgical and anesthesia providers to ensure optimization of surgical patients
- Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from a CCNE or ACEN accredited nursing program
- Two years of RN experience working in acute care or perioperative setting (strongly preferred)
- Current active Ohio RN license
- Maintains current Ohio RN license; meets mandatory educational and health requirements; demonstrates computer and job skills necessary for job functions
