American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology position at an academic cancer hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of acute care experience and Epic proficiency.
Details- Inpatient Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology unit at a major academic cancer hospital
- Patient population includes oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, soft tissue malignancy management, symptom management, and comorbidity management with a heavy focus on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
- Continuous cardiac monitoring is a core component of patient care on this unit
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Day and night 12-hour rotating shifts available (7:00–19:30 days / 19:00–7:30 nights); scheduling is reviewed every 4-week period and assignments may include days, nights, or a combination based on staffing needs
- Epic EMR — experience required
- Special equipment includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds
- Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN acute care experience required; experience must be current and consistent within the last 12 months in Med/Surg Telemetry or Oncology
- Epic EMR experience required
- Required skills:
dysrhythmia interpretation and management, port access and management, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV starts, assistance with chest tube insertion/removal, high flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and ABG interpretation - Teaching/academic hospital experience preferred
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
- 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership role (e.g., supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the 2nd reference; no coworker references accepted
- Provide telemetry oncology nursing care including chemotherapy administration support, cardiac monitoring, infection prevention, and fall prevention
- Ohio fingerprinting is required and must be completed promptly after contract signing; candidates outside Ohio within driving distance will need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location, and those at greater distances will receive a mailed packet to complete urgently
- Former employees of this facility are eligible after a minimum 6-month separation; current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to or at time of consideration and will be built into the contract; RTO is limited to 7 days or fewer
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply with a willingness to learn and grow their nursing practice
