Overview

Hours:

3:00pm – 11:30pm, with every other weekend required. FTE: 0.8–32 hours per week. Rate:
Starts at $36.90 per hour, with potential for higher pay based on relevant experience, plus a $4.70 shift differential for evenings and an additional $4.70 for weekends.

Staffing may be floated to other Behavioral Health nursing units as directed by leadership.

Job Description Summary

Assists patients to move rapidly, uneventfully, and as effectively as possible through their episode of care while maintaining quality and safety as a priority. Delegates, directs, oversees, and provides developmentally appropriate patient care. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics, maintaining a current Ohio Nursing License.

Essential Functions
  • Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.
  • Assesses individualized patient needs.
  • Communicates patient care needs and priorities to assigned LPNs, PCAs, Unit Coordinators, and Allied Health personnel.
  • Plans, implements, educates, and evaluates care using evidence‑based practices.
  • Utilizes therapeutic communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families.
  • Engages in the workplace community by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding quality improvement, representing staff at meetings, and reporting important information and updates back to staff.
  • Documents according to organizational standards, policies, and procedures.
Education, Licensure, and Certifications
  • BSN or Associate degree, with a commitment to obtain a BSN within five years of hire.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Must be willing to obtain and maintain NRP, PALS, ACLS, APHON, or other necessary certifications as determined by management.
Physical Requirements

Occasionally: biohazard waste, climbing stairs/ladder, driving motor vehicles, exposure to fumes/gases/vapors, hand use for grasping/gripping/turning, lifting / carrying 41–60 lbs and 61–100 lbs, use of machinery, power tools, pushing / pulling 100 lbs or greater with assistance, reaching above shoulder.

Frequent: bending/twisting, handling blood and bodily fluids, chemicals/medications, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, depth perception, exposure to electricity, lifting / carrying 0–10 lbs, 11–20 lbs, 21–40 lbs, patient equipment; pushing / pulling 0–25 lbs, 26–40 lbs, 41–60 lbs, 61–100 lbs; repetitive hand/arm use, sitting, squatting/kneeling.

Continuous: audible speech, color vision, computer skills, decision making, hearing acuity, data interpretation, peripheral vision, problem solving, near/far vision, standing, walking.
