American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Oncology PCU/Telemetry position at a major cancer hospital, requiring high-acuity PCU experience and Epic proficiency.

• 36-bed Oncology Telemetry unit with over 24 beds dedicated to PCU-level care, located within a large academic cancer hospital
• Patient population includes solid tumor, orthopedic oncology, and thoracic oncology diagnoses at a high acuity PCU level
• Pediatric patients are occasionally present on the unit but are extremely rare and typically managed by permanent staff — pediatric experience is not required
• Staffing ratios are 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for Med Surg Telemetry
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30); rotating day/night scheduling is possible based on department needs
• Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period and may include days, nights, or a combination
• Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Charting system:
  Epic (required)
• Special equipment includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, bladder scanner, Stryker beds, continuous bladder irrigation, and PCA pumps

• Active OH or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS (BCLS), ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; acute care experience must be current and active within the last 12 months in the applying specialty
• High-acuity PCU experience is required; ICU background is also acceptable
• Epic EMR experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Required skills include: interpretation of dysrhythmias, use of rapid response/code teams, feeding tube care and management, port access and management, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, IV starts, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (including titration), PCA management, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
• Preferred skills include: management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, insulin drip titration, phlebotomy, chemotherapy administration and monitoring, wound care/wound vac, arterial line management, surgical drains, and non-invasive airway management
• 2 years of oncology experience preferred but not required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership role (supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; no coworker references accepted

• Oncology experience is preferred but not required — candidates with strong PCU or ICU backgrounds are encouraged to apply
• First-time travelers are welcome; travel experience is not required
• Former employees of this facility are eligible to apply after a minimum 6-month separation; current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration and will be built into the contract; RTO is limited to 7 days or fewer
• Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Ohio state fingerprinting is required upon signing the contract and must be completed urgently — candidates outside Ohio who are within driving distance will need to travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location; those at greater distances will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to be completed immediately upon receipt
• Multiple parking permit options are available for purchase through Campus Parc, ranging from convenient on-campus garage access to budget-friendly surface lot options with shuttle service to the medical center
