American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and welcoming first-time travelers.
Details- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) of a hospital setting
- Cardiovascular and post-MI patient population, including endocrine/metabolic cases
- Estimated patient ratio of 1:3
- Night shift, 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Schedule includes weekdays with every other weekend (EOW)
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Uses Epic EMR
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Epic EMR experience required
- Skills required:
conscious sedation, ventilator management, and telemetry - Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, high flow nasal cannula, and care of ventilated patients
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and peripheral line care/management experience
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips; titration skills preferred
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management experience
- Experience with CVA (cerebrovascular accident) care and heparin protocols
- Insulin drip titration experience
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply for this position
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this facility
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract, either at a local Ohio location or via mailed packet for those at extreme distances
