Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Oncology

James Hematology Oncology - D/N - AYA Offer (Med Surg Unit)

Hematology oncology experience preferred but not required. Medsurg experience required. ONS certification preferred.

Staffing ratios - goal is 1:4, but can be 1:5.

Weekends - variable based on unit needs.

No set/blocked scheduling as that is not something we offer our permanent staff.

Self-schedule requests - you will enter your schedule requests so we can see your preferred schedule before balancing and posting the final schedule.

First week of orientation is Mon - Fri dayshift. Second week is 36hrs of on-unit orientation with a preceptor.

Oncology experience preferred but not required.

Floating to other Med/Surg and Oncology Units Patient Diagnoses:

• Lymphoma
• Multiple Myeloma
• Acute leukemias
• Chronic Leukemias
• Sickle Cell Disease
• Other non hem cancers
• Other benign hematology

Special Procedures/Unit Details:

• Chemotherapy
• Blood transfusions
• IV Antibiotics
• Oncologic emergencies: tumor lysis syndrome, cytokine release syndrome
• Insulin drips
• Heparin drips
• Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls

Certifications

Required:

• BLS
• ACLS

Skills Required:

• MS/Tele
• Telemetry
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Telemetry
  -on the unit monitoring
• Use of Rapid Response Teams
• Feeding tube care and management
• IV therapy/Phlebotomy
• Blood Product Administration
• Central line blood draw
• Peripheral Line Care/Management
• PICC line management
• Starting IVs
• Computerized charting
• EPIC
