RN - PCU
Responsible for providing care to patients in the Progressive Care Unit. This unit specializes in acute care for orthopedic trauma patients with various diagnoses. Common patient diagnoses include SBO, fall, laceration, pneumonia, head injury, traumatic brain injury, trauma, ileus, fistula, and fractures. The role involves monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and educating patients on their care plans. Skills in BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and central line care are essential.
Nurses will be part of an interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Applicants should have experience with IV management, tracheostomy care, and managing cardiac drips without titration. The ability to interpret arterial blood gases and manage high-flow nasal cannula therapy is also important. Candidates must be willing to float to different units as needed.
Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required. Valid nursing license required.
Certifications:
BLS and ACLS required. Must-have: IV starts, general nursing skills, patient monitoring, labs, medication administration, patient education EPIC experience required Telemetry experience required.
