BLS, ACLS preferred.

Must-Have:
Current acute care experience within the last 12 months in the specialty applying for.

Description:

The position is for a Registered Nurse with a specialty in Medical Surgical Oncology. Candidates should have experience in Medical Surgical nursing, while experience in Oncology is preferred. The goal for staffing ratios is 1:4, but can be adjusted to 1:5 based on unit needs. Weekend shifts will vary according to the requirements of the unit. There is no set or blocked scheduling for permanent staff.

Floating to other Medical Surgical and Oncology units may be required. Patient diagnoses include Lymphoma, Multiple Myeloma, Acute Leukemias, Chronic Leukemias, Sickle Cell Disease, and other benign hematology conditions. Special procedures performed in this unit include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and management of oncologic emergencies. The role requires a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention.

Important skills required for the position include telemetry interpretation of dysrhythmias and IV therapy, specifically blood product administration and central line management. Candidates should be familiar with computerized charting systems, specifically Epic. References must be provided; one must be from a manager or someone in a leadership capacity. A valid nursing license is required at the time of submission. Education must be from an accredited nursing program.
