American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring at least 1 year of recent PCU experience and a valid OH or compact RN license in hand.
Details- PCU unit setting with 22 beds (16 rooms) and an average daily census of 20
- Adult and geriatric patient population
- Common cases include burns, plastic/reconstructive surgery, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial surgeries
- Special procedures include burn dressings, flap checks, and leech therapy
- Night shift schedule, 12-hour shifts, 3x per week, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Every other or every third weekend required
- Floating required within the OSU health system
- Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication management
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 1 year of recent PCU experience required
- Experience with similar patient population preferred
- Previous Charge RN experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role;
Charge RN acceptable as second reference; coworker references not accepted
- Provide nursing care within a PCU setting, managing complex surgical and medical patients including burn, plastics, urology, GYN, ENT, and oral/maxillofacial cases
- Skills utilized may include IV therapy, arterial and central line management, blood product administration, PICC line care, wound care/wound vac, insulin drip titration, telemetry monitoring, and rapid response participation
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
- RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon signing due to strict credentialing timelines
- First-time travelers may be considered with manager review, though not guaranteed automatic offer with only 1 year of experience
