Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring an active OH or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years acute care experience.

Details
  • Work in a mixed acuity Surgical Oncology unit caring for both PCU and Med Surg patients
  • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with surgical oncology diagnoses such as breast, thyroid, melanoma, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics/reconstructive cases
  • Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, but may be as high as 1:5
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:30)
  • Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
  • No set or blocked scheduling offered
  • May be scheduled for a rotating combination of days and nights with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week period
  • Floating required within scope of practice
  • Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • ONS Chemo certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months required
  • At least 1 year of PCU experience required
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur Evac), and tracheostomy care preferred
  • Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role;
    Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
  • Provide care for surgical oncology patients including chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and management of oncologic emergencies including cytokine release syndrome
  • Administer and monitor insulin and heparin drips
  • Strong focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
  • All permanent staff on the unit are PCU trained
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract
  • RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel positions at this facility
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
