Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology/BMT position requiring at least 1 year of oncology experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in a Medical Surgical Oncology / Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) unit within a hospital setting
  • Mixed acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical unit
  • Care for patients with hematologic and oncologic diagnoses including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and myeloproliferative disorders
  • Unit performs autologous, syngeneic, and allogeneic stem cell transplants as well as CAR-T therapy
  • Utilizes telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
  • Requires central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care and management
  • Involves blood product administration, feeding tube care, and nasal cannula administration
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), 3x per week
  • May be scheduled under a rotating Days/Nights contract based on departmental needs, with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week period
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical and oncology experience required, with heme/onc experience strongly preferred
  • Current acute care experience in the applied specialty within the last 12 months required
  • BLS certification required; ACLS and ONS Chemotherapy Certification preferred
  • Chemo certification not required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy/infusions, port access and management, and central/implanted line care
  • Skilled in blood product administration and recognizing/communicating abnormal lab values
  • Experience in inpatient oncology and BMT settings preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide direct nursing care to oncology and BMT patients, including monitoring for complications related to transplant and CAR-T therapies
  • Use isolation precautions and appropriate PPE when caring for immunocompromised patients
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Former employees are eligible for a new travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are not eligible for a travel position at any of its Ohio hospital locations
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN reference is acceptable for the second reference, but coworker references are not accepted
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance timelines
