American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a comprehensive cancer center requiring 2+ years of high acuity Med Surg Tele experience and a compact or OH RN license.
Details- Work in the MS/Tele unit of a 318-bed comprehensive cancer center with inpatient units specialized by cancer diagnosis
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
- Floating required to Med Surg and PCU Oncology units including BMT, Acute Leukemia, Hematology, Medical Oncology, PCU Oncology, Gynecological Oncology, Urology, Colorectal, Surgical Oncology, and Corrections Healthcare
- Staffing ratios are 1:4 to 1:5 on MS/Tele and 1:3 to 1:4 on PCU depending on mixed acuity
- Weekend shifts are variable based on unit needs
- No set or blocked scheduling offered
- 12-hour day/night rotating schedule possible with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week period based on staffing needs
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active compact or Ohio RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of high acuity Med Surg Tele or higher experience required
- Acute care experience must be current and consistent within the last 12 months in the specialty applying for
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- OCN and ONS/ONCC certifications preferred
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, respiratory management including BiPAP/CPAP and tracheostomy care, cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management, telemetry monitoring, isolation precautions/PPE, and feeding tube care
- Preferred skills include chemotherapy administration and monitoring, chest tube management, craniotomy and CVA care, IV insulin protocols, PCA management, and mastectomy/skin graft care
- Provide direct patient care within a specialized oncology and med surg tele environment with heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
- First week of orientation is Monday-Friday day shift, followed by five shifts of bedside orientation across weeks 2 and 3, then independent practice
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; coworker references are not accepted
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as travelers at this facility
- Requested time off must be submitted with the contract and built in at time of consideration
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract, with in-state travel to a fingerprinting location required for those within driving distance and mailed fingerprinting packets for those at extreme distances
