Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced PACU RN for a Pre-Op/PACU role in a Level I trauma heart hospital, requiring 2+ years of experience and Epic proficiency.

Details
  • Work in the Pre-Op/PACU unit of a heart hospital specializing in cardiovascular and vascular surgery
  • Care for patients undergoing CABG, AAA repair, TAVR, EVAR, Fem-Pop/Fem-Tib-Peroneal Bypass, angiogram, pulmonary decortication, and ablation procedures
  • 1:1 patient ratio
  • Day shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 8:00am-8:30pm, with potential consideration for 4x10-hour shifts from 10:00am-8:30pm
  • Call requirements include approximately every third to fourth weekend
  • Epic EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • Pre/Post-op nursing experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • PACU experience preferred
  • Level I trauma center and outpatient/ambulatory experience preferred
  • Previous Charge RN experience preferred
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role, and the second acceptable from a Charge RN (no coworker references accepted)
Additional Information
  • Provide comprehensive pre-operative and post-anesthesia care for cardiovascular and vascular surgical patients
  • Perform pre-op assessments, patient education, and review of history and physical
  • Manage arterial lines, central venous pressure monitoring, and cardiac dysrhythmia recognition
  • Administer emergency medications, antiarrhythmics, anticoagulation therapy, and IV vasopressors
  • Perform 12-lead EKG/ECG and obtain operative/procedural consent
  • Care for patients receiving general anesthesia, MAC, and nerve blocks
  • Skilled in wound vac management, urinary catheterization, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
  • Work within a Level I trauma center environment
  • RTO must be submitted with the initial application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment consideration after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are not eligible for travel assignments
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract, either in-state or via mailed packet if located far from Ohio
