RN Nurse, ICU Nurse
Registered Nurse in Progressive Care Unit
This position involves caring for patients in a progressive care unit with a focus on medical oncology. The unit provides care for high acuity patients, and staff may also encounter pediatric patients, though their care will primarily be managed by permanent staff. Nurses are expected to adapt to changing shift assignments based on departmental needs, with rotations between day, night, or a combination of both shifts.
The patient population includes individuals with solid tumors, orthopedic oncology issues, and thoracic oncology conditions. Special procedures may include administering blood products, managing central and peripheral lines, and using advanced monitoring equipment. Nurses will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team that may include physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services. Staffing ratios aim for 1:4-5, depending on unit needs. The use of telemetry systems and various specialized equipment is required for patient monitoring and care management.
Candidates should have experience in interpretation of dysrhythmias and the ability to use rapid response teams. Nurses may also be involved in the management of cardiac drips and administration of chemotherapy. This position offers opportunities for professional growth and flexible scheduling. Nurses with previous travel experience are preferred. All candidates must complete finger printing as part of the credentialing process.
