American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring an active Ohio or compact RN license and at least 1 year of acute care experience.

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital environment
• 13-week assignment with Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
• Shifts may be assigned flexibly based on organizational needs without a fixed rotating schedule
• Some weekend shifts required
• Uses EPIC EMR for charting
• Float to lower acuity units as needed
• Care for neurological/psychiatric patients and those experiencing substance withdrawal

• Active Ohio or compact RN license in hand at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience with strong acute care background
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and IV certification also required
• EPIC EMR experience preferred
• Experience with chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur Evac), nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs, peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Familiarity with Rapid Response/Code team protocols and isolation precautions/PPE
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted

• Start and manage IVs, administer medications safely, and monitor vitals and patient responses
• Educate patients on treatments and self-care while collaborating with the care team on patient plans
• Follow hospital policies and maintain patient safety standards
• PCU experience is not required for this role
• Travel experience is a plus but not required, and first-time travelers will be considered
• Locals are accepted at the same rate
• Required RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
• Candidates must complete an urgent Ohio fingerprinting process immediately upon signing the contract, either by driving to a fingerprinting location in-state or completing a mailed fingerprinting packet if located a significant distance from Ohio
