Scope of Position:

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Centers mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patients involvement in his/her own plan of care and reducing the length of hospitalization, The staff nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement , the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost effective care.

Position Summary:

The Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model. Provides pre and post-operative care for patients undergoing sports medicine procedures.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but not limited to: patient assessment, education, monitoring, pain management, and coordination with the surgical team to ensure safe and efficient recovery.

No weekends or holidays.

Minimum

Education Required:
  • 2-Year College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience desired.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.
  • Current Ohio licensure or interim permit.
  • Previous surgical center experience preferred.
Additional Information:

The Jameson Crane Sports Medicine Institute is an outpatient surgery center focusing on sports med, orthopedics, and hand surgeries. The department has 6 operating rooms and 19 pre/post bays. We average between 18-25 cases daily, with hours of operation being 6am-4:30pm Monday thru Friday. JCSMI is closed on weekends and holidays. Our pre/post staff take care of 2 patients at a time, while our OR staff focuses on taking care of one patient at a time.

All patients having surgery at JCSMI must fall within our scope of care to keep them as safe. There are approximately 45 staff members within the unit.
