Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Progressive Care Unit position specializing in acute leukemia and hematology care, requiring 2 years of acute care experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in the Acute Leukemia and Hematology unit (15E) of a cancer hospital
  • Adult and geriatric patient population, primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
  • Patient ratios goal of 1:4, with potential for 1:5
  • 12-hour Day/Night rotating shift schedule (7:00-19:30 or 19:00-7:30)
  • Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on department needs
  • Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Chemotherapy certification not required for this position
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • ONS Chemo certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months
  • At least 1 year of PCU experience required
  • Oncology experience preferred; training provided for oncology patients
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skills required include telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line and PICC line management, peripheral line care, and feeding tube management
  • Experience with Rapid Response Team protocols required
  • Prior travel nursing experience preferred, though first-time travelers will be screened for client review
Additional Information
  • Provide direct nursing care with a strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention
  • Utilize cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills for dysrhythmia management
  • Work setting includes PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown level care
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role;
    Charge RN acceptable for second reference; coworker references not accepted
  • Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
  • Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel positions
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing contract due to strict processing timelines
  • RTO must be requested and built into the contract at time of submission, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • First-time travelers will be considered and screened for client review
