American Traveler is hiring a Chemo-Certified Oncology RN for an acute leukemia and hematology unit, requiring at least 2 years of nursing experience including inpatient hematology oncology, with an OH or compact RN license.
Requirements- Active OH or compact RN license required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and ONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy certification
- Preferred certification: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of overall nursing experience required
- Prior med/surg oncology experience required, with at least 1 year of inpatient hematology oncology experience
- Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Experience with blood product administration, IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, PICC line management, and peripheral line care
- Experience with feeding tube care and management
- 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; no coworker references accepted
- Acute care oncology unit specializing in newly diagnosed acute leukemia and hematology patients
- High-acuity medical unit with a heavy focus on blood product administration, IV antibiotics, and electrolyte management
- Staffing ratio goal of 1:4, with potential for 1:5 based on unit needs
- 12-hour day/night rotating shifts (7:00 AM–7:30 PM / 7:00 PM–7:30 AM); may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination depending on departmental needs
- Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period
- Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
- No set or blocked scheduling; self-schedule requests are accepted prior to schedule finalization
- Charting via Epic EMR
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
- Orientation consists of the first week on day shift (Mon–Fri), followed by a second week of 36 hours of on‑unit orientation with a preceptor
- First‑time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Local candidates are accepted
- Former employees of the facility are eligible after a 6‑month separation period
- RTO must be submitted upfront and built into the contract; requests are limited to 7 days or fewer
- Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be initiated promptly after accepting the position; candidates outside Ohio may need to travel to a fingerprinting location or will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet to complete urgently
- Multiple parking permit options are available for purchase on‑site through the hospital's parking program, including garage and surface lot access with shuttle service
