The Outpatient Surgery Center Registered Nurse functions as an integral member of a team of care providers on a patient care unit, who reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect.
Position SummaryThe Outpatient Surgery Center Registered Nurse is responsible for managing care to the patient and family, and for directing and supervising the other members of the patient care team. They are responsible for assessing, prescribing, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating nursing care of patients. The Outpatient Surgery Center Registered Nurse prioritizes patient care needs and provides leadership and development of the patient care team.
Individuals within this position must be able to function fully within performance expectations defined for nurses in a surgical setting.
Position located at OSU Surgery Center - Gowdy Fields. Call assigned on a rotating basis and as late cases arise.

- Minimum
Education Required:
2-Year College Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in nursing - Additional Education Desired:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in nursing
- Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.
- Current Ohio licensure or interim permit.
- Previous surgical center experience preferred.
The Eye and Ear Institute at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center provides specialized outpatient surgical care in ophthalmology, ENT, plastics, and other same‑day procedures. RNs in the OR and Pre‑Op/PACU support the full perioperative experience, including pre‑surgical assessments, intraoperative circulating/scrub roles, and post‑anesthesia recovery. RNs in this unit work in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment focused on safety, efficiency, and exceptional patient experience.
This outpatient setting offers predictable scheduling with no nights, weekends, or holidays, along with opportunities for professional growth within a leading academic medical center.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
