Description:
Weekdays and some weekends are required. Rotating holidays are part of the schedule. Floating within units of equivalent or lower levels of acuity is required. Estimated patient ratios are 1:1-2. Experience in IV start, telemetry, ventilators, Swanz catheters, and conscious sedation is required. Skills in managing balloon pumps, PA lines, and ECMO patients are necessary. Candidates must have experience with high-acuity cardiovascular patients, including CABG and heart transplant care.
Knowledge of management of dysrhythmias, hemodynamic monitoring, and respiratory failure is essential. Familiarity with special equipment such as Ventricular Assist Devices and ECMO is needed. Successful candidates will work in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy and pharmacy. Patients will include those requiring cardiac, vascular, or thoracic ICU care. This role involves caring for patients with complex diagnoses, including post-surgical and critical care issues.
The position requires a strong foundation in cardiovascular nursing, with an emphasis on critical assessment and quick decision-making. Management of continuous IV sedation and titration of cardiac drips is a critical part of this role. Continuous monitoring for complications and proactive patient management is expected.
