American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit position caring for acute leukemia and hematology patients, requiring 2 years of acute care experience and no chemo certification needed.

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) within an acute care hospital setting
• Cares for newly diagnosed acute leukemia and hematology patients
• Adult and geriatric patient population
• Target staffing ratio of 1:4, with potential to flex to 1:5
• 12-hour rotating shifts covering both day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30), based on department needs
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, subject to change based on staffing priorities
• Variable weekend requirements based on unit needs
• Uses Epic for computerized charting

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIHSS certification preferred
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of current acute care nursing experience, consistently worked within the last 12 months
• At least 1 year of PCU experience required
• Oncology experience preferred; training provided for oncology patient population
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skilled in telemetry monitoring and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience with PICC line management and central line blood draws
• Experience with blood product administration and accessing/managing ports
• Feeding tube care and management experience
• Experience utilizing Rapid Response Teams
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or supervisor; second reference may be from a Charge RN; coworker references not accepted

• Focus on infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention
• Provide care with an emphasis on cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• First-time travelers will be considered
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6+ months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this facility
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon signing contract; candidates outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
